Pemanfaatan Tumbuhan Sebagai Obat Tradisional Pada Masyarakat Lhok Bate Intan Kecamatan Manggeng Kabupaten Aceh Barat Daya

Abstract

In Lhok Bate Intan Village, Manggeng District, Southwest Aceh Regency, the community continues to preserve traditional knowledge of medicinal plants as part of its local wisdom. This study aimed to document the types of plants used in traditional medicine, the plant parts utilized, preparation methods, and the benefits reported by the community. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnobotanical approach. Data were collected through field observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling based on their knowledge and experience in utilizing medicinal plants. Data collection was conducted on August 7, 2026. Plant species were identified based on their local names and morphological characteristics observed in the field, while scientific names and plant classifications were determined by referring to Plants of the World Online (POWO), managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The results showed that 19 medicinal plant species from several families were utilized to treat various health complaints, including coughs, fever, headaches, skin disorders, and digestive problems. Leaves were the most frequently used plant part, while preparation methods included squeezing, pounding, grinding, boiling, slicing, and chewing. These findings indicate that traditional knowledge of medicinal plants continues to be passed down through generations and remains an important part of the local wisdom of the Lhok Bate Intan Village community.
